Misa – Bop Til You Drop

7 May

Okay. You know already that I love coral. I own enough coral polishes for two girls, but I can’t stop adding to the collection. Besides, Misa is a brand I’ve been wanting to try for a long time. I jumped at the opportunity.

Misa’s Bop Til You Drop from their Fall 2010 Hip to My Jive collection,  is a lovely addition to my already large collection of corals. It’s very much a true coral that doesn’t lean too orange or pink, with a beautiful golden microshimmer running throughout. This is my first experience with the brand Misa, and I was pleased. Pictured above is two coats, and I encountered no weird brush or formula issues.

I bought this polish from Well.ca, “Canada’s largest online health and beauty store”, with a $10 off coupon code. They sell your typical drugstore polish brands (e.g. Revlon, Sally Hansen, Rimmel, L’Oreal, NYC), but also ones that are slightly harder to find in Vancouver (China Glaze, Essie, Misa, Milani). Best of all, free shipping within Canada!

I can’t get over how perfect your manicures are. I am sitting here right now fixing up the mistakes I made on a manicure and lamenting that the darn thing might last all of three days. How do you make the cuticles so perfect, the texture so even?

Thanks Jodi! I don’t know if I’ve already mentioned this, but I frequently use a cheap synthetic concealer brush dipped in nail polish remover/acetone to clean up the cuticle area. Of course, this works best if you can get as close as possible to the cuticle without actually letting polish touch it – and that requires practice! And some technique, which I will eventually get to, haha. :)

I am new to your blog, and i LOVE it!!! just a quick question. i almost always keep my fingers polished. i let them “breathe” every few weeks. but lately when my polish dries, i have these tiny bubbles all over my nails and it drives me batty! i put a base coat, 2 coats of color and a top coat. Any idea why this is happening? Thanks in advance!!

Thanks for reading Mandy! I find that I get tons of tiny bubbles whenever I paint my nails in Hong Kong. I suspect that it’s the very hot and humid weather there, and the breeze from the constant A/C. Has it been getting much hotter where you’re living now?

There’s not much I can do when I’m in HK to avoid bubbles. I try to turn off the A/C and paint my nails in very careful, extremely thin coats.

Hey I am doing a trend story on nail polish and I was wondering if you could answer a few questions for me

    1. What are the nail trends that you are noticing now?
    examples: Shape, length or color

    2. Which is more in style is more popular?
example: acrylic, shellac, gel or natural nails?

    3. what nail polish is the most popular?
example: OPI, OPI crackle…or anything else?

    4. what are different types of nail designs?

    5. What colors are popular in the spring v.s winter or fall?
    example: pastels in the spring

feel free to add any other input that you have.
